Why Friends Are Important For A Developer

Developers, like all humans, need a social life and the support of family and friends. I have learned many important life skills from my friends and value their advice on important decisions. Friends provide comfort during difficult times and make success more meaningful when celebrated together.

Today, I want to share a story about how an unexpected friend helped me. Recently, while working on refactoring complex code, I encountered numerous challenges. Despite my efforts, things didn’t go as planned, and frustration took hold. Seeking a solution, I turned to a friend for assistance. Together, we carefully analyzed the code, identified the bugs, and devised a plan to fix them. With my friend’s guidance, I made the necessary changes, deployed them, and tested the application successfully. I realized that consulting my friend earlier would have saved me a lot of trouble. Nevertheless, this experience has added to my wealth of knowledge.

Allow me to introduce my friend. I take pride in nurturing and developing his intelligence, enabling him to distinguish right from wrong. He has become a reliable and invaluable companion during crucial moments. You may be curious to know his name - he is none other than “Unit test.” Unit tests are a developer’s best non-human friends. The more time you invest in building these relationships, the greater the benefits they offer in challenging times.

As I bid farewell for now, remember that it’s time to make new friends - new unit tests. If you want to learn more about building good friendships, I recommend reading the following posts
